Series Synopsis

Strengthen the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in environmental laboratory work within the water and wastewater industry. Through a series of applied learning sessions, participants build a strong foundation in core laboratory practices, data quality, and analytical procedures used in water and wastewater systems.

This series focuses on key areas of environmental laboratory work, including laboratory fundamentals, sampling and analysis, quality assurance and quality control, data interpretation, and safety practices. Participants will engage with core concepts and practical applications that support both skill development and day-to-day laboratory performance.

Designed for both new and developing laboratory professionals, this program supports career advancement in environmental laboratory work. The primary focus is on building practical laboratory skills and strengthening professional capability. Participants preparing for certification exams may also find the series a helpful supplemental resource.

Meet the Trainer

Olivia Woolery is an environmental laboratory professional with a background in water quality testing and regulatory compliance. She is currently working as Laboratory Supervisor at Monterey One Water in Marina, California. Previously, she held multiple roles at Monterey Bay Analytical Services (MBAS), progressing from Laboratory Intern to Principal Analyst. During her time at MBAS, Olivia specialized in microbiological and chemical analyses, TNI-2 implementation, SOP development, and analyst training. Olivia’s hands-on experience also included supporting ELAP readiness and routine testing at neighboring municipal facilities wastewater treatment facilities.Olivia has a B.S. in Environmental Science from California State University Monterey Bay and maintains several relevant certifications, including CWEA Laboratory Analyst Grade IV and OSHA 30. Olivia is active in her local CWEA section, as the Laboratory Committee Co-Chairperson and Director for the CWEA Monterey Bay Section.
